Jennifer McDonald Topics
KEYNOTES AND WORKSHOPS ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS
With all her experience of implementing organizational change, Jennifer recently established her own company, J.E. McDonald & Associates. She has achieved mastery in several fields and is happy to share her knowledge in speaking engagements and workshops.
PHILOSOPHICAL APPROACH TO ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE
- Her philosophy on life which applies to business is reflected in a quotation from Marianne Williamson, ‘Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us’. Jennifer strongly believes we need to step into our light and recognise that whatever the mind conceives, it can achieve.
- She takes a purpose-driven approach to leadership, recognizing the common thread of respect and dignity of all members of the team.
- Jennifer works well with team members with different skills and training and, on occasions, team meetings are reminiscent of the classroom. She is known to say to others about her team, ‘let’s keep on pushing as we have the confidence to do anything we can think about’.
- She has worked with persons across all spheres, from janitors to managers and company owners, Ministers of Government and Heads of Government and so understands how to interact with varying groups.
- She has a strong work ethic and is known for her on-time delivery of projects.
IMMIGRATION AND WORK PERMITS
- She possesses in-depth knowledge of Immigration and work permit matters for non-Jamaicans who wish to enter and remain in Jamaica. As CEO of PICA she has intimate knowledge of this as she was once a member of the Government of Jamaica’s Work Permit Committee.
RE-ENGINEERING ORGANIZATIONS
- She has a track record of turning around organizations such as PICA, National Land Agency, and a UDC subsidiary. She understands the dynamic between setting organizational objectives and breaking them down into individual work plans. For over a decade, Jennifer has had to walk the fine line between motivating the staff and pushing them to do better while indicating to organization principals that too high an objective will lead to non-performance.
- She has a passion for change, is able to lead a strong team and will motivate your team as well.
- She has successfully re-engineered Jamaica’s Immigration services to improve efficiency.
CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MARKETING
- She can speak and train in customer service and marketing as she was Marketing Manager of International Insurance Brokers (now Gallagher Insurance). While there, she provided marketing expertise to subsidiary companies while working in the Marketing Unit of the ICD Group. She was instrumental in the identity and formation of the NLA. More recently, under her leadership, PICA has gained brand recognition in the society and has a reputation for good customer service. Another noteworthy improvement under her stewardship is PICA’s use of social media to improve their customer service delivery – they were subsequently ranked among the top government users.
- She pioneered ‘Fireworks on the Waterfront’ and ‘Harbour Festivals’ in downtown Kingston to bring back life and activity to the area. This has improved significantly over the years.
