Biography:
Calvin A. Hunter is a consultant in financial services, sales, marketing, promotion and a speaker extraordinaire.
Calvin has an extensive knowledge of banking and financial markets with over twenty (20) years’ experience of which over ten (10) years was spent in loan management. He spent most of his early working years at National Commercial Bank (NCB) and First Global Bank (FGB). He received numerous awards while working at both institutions. His banking journey started when he entered as an entry level clerk at NCB in 1993 and rose to the position of Branch Manager at FGB in 2008. Calvin also has a passion for lecturing and has been a guest lecturer at the University of the West Indies. He has delivered keynote speeches and courses at NCB, First Global Bank, GSB Credit Union (NOW First Heritage Credit Union) to name a few and he has also delivered presentations to numerous senior
management and executives across Jamaica.
Since establishing his own consultancy service in 2010, Calvin has undertaken a range of projects which include providing financial services (including underwriting and structuring), sales training, marketing research and support as well as organizing training and workshops. The companies he has worked with include Epayment Group Ltd., Supreme Promotions Ltd., Agency for Inner City Renewal (AIR), The Global Empowerment Institute, Crowe Horwath Jamaica, Micro Credit Jamaica Ltd. as well as a number of smaller firms and individuals such as Alvin Day, Isaiah Laing, Dr. Henley Morgan and Howard McIntosh. He is the President of Metalloid Capital Management Limited, which is a successful micro finance company. Mr. Hunter is the Distinguished Charter President in 2005 and subsequent double Distinguished President of the Optimist Club of St. Matthew’s Kingston in 2014 – 2015 and 2015 – 2016. In fact, under his leadership, in 2014 – 2015 the club was recognized by the Optimist International Caribbean District as the most outstanding club for their work in the Allman Town community. He is currently the Governor-Elect for the Optimist International
Caribbean District.
Calvin holds a certificate in banking from the University of Technology, a BSc in Management Studies and Accounts from the University of the West Indies and a Masters in Business Administration (Distinction) from Nova Southeastern University. He is married to Debbie and is the father of two children, Callie-Ann and Debbie-Ann.
